It Will Possess Your Heart

I was looking for a word describing the initial part of the song. Part that develops melodic foundation and rhythm and also introduces the main part of the song. Is this the 'Introduction'?

Wiki describes it this way: In music, the introduction is a passage or section which opens a movement or a separate piece. In popular music this is often abbreviated as intro. The introduction establishes melodic, harmonic, and/or rhythmic material related to the main body of a piece.

Ok, so maybe this is the word, but it is not suitable to describe the very intro form the song I have in mind. Death Cab for Cutie's "I will possess your hart" - is eight minutes thirty three seconds masterpiece containing almost five minutes instrumental introductory part. Slowly developed theme, starting with some modest melodic patterns and beautiful bass line...rhythmically takes control of the mood. After the sensation of such a kind the main body off the song cannot fail any expectations. The only proper word describing this experience will be...a foreplay.

Looking back to the Wiki: In human sexual behavior, foreplay is a set of emotionally intimate and physically intimate acts between two or more people meant to create desire forsexual activity and sexual arousal.

Substitute human for sound and it becomes accurate. Add lyrics and visual background and you have something close to... sex...

The only thing that I am not able to understand is how the hell radio edit of this song is shortened to four minutes and twenty two seconds...
